Job description

The Administrative Officer directs and performs all administrative functions that include administration, budget and finance, office supplies, services, document control, logistics, inventory management, and a variety of administrative matters in support of the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS).

Major Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides substantial input into policies and action plans to ensure Prosthetics is in compliance with VA Central Office (VACO), VISN, Joint Commission, and other entities as appropriate regarding all phases of performance improvement and quality management programs. Monitors performance, suspense actions, and enforces the directions of the service chief to ensure issues are brought to closure. Coordinates the personnel management program for Prosthetics Service Line, performing or overseeing all aspects of human resources requirements. Monitors, coordinates and tracks all on-going and projected personnel actions and continuously apprises management of status. Maintains files and documents on all personnel actions, and coordinates actions with appropriate staff or supervisor. Manages budget formulation and execution for a changing budget of administrative expenses involving different funding sources, and participates with managers in reviewing needs, plans, and goals to develop budget data and justification for review and approval. Prepares budget estimates based on historical information and identifies need for changes. Sets up and maintains systems to control purchasing and the use of supplies. Coordinates and conducts audits and inspections as assigned by the Chief, Prosthetics Service. Formulates proposed administrative directives and policies and discusses pertinent issues with the supervisor to determine the impact on new or revised guidance on current operations. Recommends the establishment of, and prepares administrative policies, directives, and procedures for implementation Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
