Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to support and engage in the ALO's liaison activities, while participating in the management its administrative support, and performing assignments on a wide range of matters relating to the funding and operation of the Department.

The duties and responsibilities for a Appropriations Liaison Officer, GS-0501-15, generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Day-to-day liaison between the Department and the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations in support of Department of Justice funding requests and policy objectives. Supports the Controller as liaison with the Office of Management and Budget, senior Justice Offices, and Justice component financial managers. Researches administrative or program related to materials and/or activities, and presents findings and recommendations in written, verbal, or other form to program, administrative, and/or management officials. Provides advice and guidance, including interpretations, opinions, or decisions regarding programs or policies. Consultations involve assessment of program or policy conditions, phenomena, or anomalies. Prepares justifications for estimates to be used in the presentation/enactment of the budget. Presents budget estimates and justifications to top management officials. Prepares and participates in the presentation of budget estimates and requests before the agency executive group and/or before Congressional appropriations committees.
