Job description

If selected, you will be responsible for supervising the development and implementation of safety-related aviation capabilities within Wildlife Services (WS) eastern region's operational programs. You will interact in a technical capacity with various organizations and WS units on operational issues involving aviation.

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to: Provides regional leadership, direction, coordination, and oversight of WS aviation management involving varied wildlife damage management projects involving operational and research components. Provide day-to-day supervision of pilots. Implements aviation directives and curricula established by the National Aviation coordinator (NAC), assuring compliance with both external and internal regulations. Ensure that aviation training and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is fully integrated with aviation safety to minimize risk to people and property. Manage both annual and no-year funds provided to the Region for aviation operations. Procures aircraft services, to include maintenance, overhauls, equipment modifications, acquisition of replacement aircraft or additions to the WS fleet. Implements research, program analysis, recruitment and special aviation projects.
