Job description

Provides nationwide strategic leadership, integration, coordination, and oversight for aviation management, safety, and tactical and strategic issues and activities in the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Wildlife Services (WS) program.

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to: Develops wildlife aviation directives and guidelines to ensure safe and effective aviation operations. Responsible for ensuring all WS aviation operations comply with applicable Federal and State laws. Advises and provides authoritative advice and counsel at all levels of management. Oversees all aviation safety and training in WS programs. Develops and implements safety and training of unmanned aerial systems. Provides nationwide leadership, direction, coordination, and oversight of WS aviation management.
