Job description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Mission Support Directorate, Employee Resiliency Integrity & Development Division. Location is negotiable to the following locations: Atlanta, GA Buffalo, NY Laredo, TX San Diego, CA Washington, DC

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $129,258.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to$168,040.00 (GS-14, Step 10). To meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 year, with possible extensions for an additional 2 years. You may be returned, at any time, to the position from which temporarily promoted, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay, and that the return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771. At management's discretion, you may be permanently promoted to this position without further competition. Typical duties include: Providing coordination and guidance in conjunction with other resiliency program managers for first response for Chaplain services in acute crisis situations, where employees and family members need immediate support Developing, planning, and measuring employee engagement, resilience, and wellness initiatives, including recording and reporting national metrics to leadership ensuring efforts encompass various evidence-based solutions that align with the best law enforcement practices and programs where little or no guidance exists Promoting and policing management accountability and operational integrity for border security initiatives by ensuring policy compliance for respective areas Serving as Team Lead responsible for independent planning, designing, scheduling, and carrying out programs, major projects, and studies in support of organizational effectiveness. Assuring implementation by subordinate organizations and operating units of the goals and objectives of DHS and CBP Serving as the project leader for program office projects as a subject matter expert (SME). Providing technical direction in project management, team building, facilitation, process improvement analysis, and the methodology required to develop and substantiate a business case for the selected program If going from a LEO Covered Position to a Secondary CBPO Special Retirement Covered (SRC) Position: Please be advised that when you enter on duty in this Secondary CBPO SRC position you will no longer be covered under the Special Retirement System for Law Enforcement Officers, but will only be covered under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).
