Deputy Director

The position is located in User Services and Collection Division (USCD), Office of the Director (OD).

As a Supervisory Technical Information Specialist, you will: As the alter ego to the Director, act as a consultant/advisor and direct the vision and strategic priorities for USCD that align with NIH and NLM, missions and strategic plans. Manage the operations of the USCD including formulating, establishing and interpreting policies; developing, and evaluating programs; developing and implementing long term and operational plans developed by subordinate Branch Chiefs. Serve as a technical authority and spokesperson on NLM's services and resources for library and information science professionals, health professionals, researchers, clinicians and the general public. Interact with the broad user community as necessary to understand challenges, trends, and determine how USCD may enhance its products or processes to serve or collaborate with the user community more effectively. Coordinate and implement programs and activities with other areas across NLM. Prepare and present formal reports, speeches, and papers for publication on NLM programs, and represent the library to various high level scientific meetings, federal and other partners, and professional organizations.
