Job description
This vacancy is for a GS-0501-7, Financial Mangement Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CIVIL ENGINEERING UNIT PROVIDENCE-PRODUCT LINE in WARWICK, Rhode Island.
You will serve as a/an Financial Mangement Specialist within a multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering team. You will assist in the administration of CEU financial and property management programs and supports budget execution, financial reporting, reconciliation activities, and property accountability functions under the guidance of senior financial management personnel and supervisory staff. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Assisting in the execution and tracking of multiple financial accounts, including Depot Level Maintenance (DLM), Operational Level Maintenance (OLM), Environmental Compliance and Restoration (EC&R), and Procurement, Construction and Improvements (PC&I) funding. Preparing funding documents, tracking allotments, monitoring obligations and expenditures, and maintaining financial records. Collecting, compiling, and analyzing financial data from accounting systems, reports, and historical records. Maintaining budget spreadsheets, databases, and tracking systems used to monitor account balances and project funding status. Reviewing routine requests for expenditures to verify accounting classifications and compliance with established procedures. Supporting contract funding administration by monitoring obligations, modifications, invoices, and payments and identifying routine discrepancies for resolution. Preparing recurring and ad hoc financial reports, compiling financial information, and maintaining spreadsheets and databases used for financial reporting.
