Job description
This position is located at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, in the Facility and Ships Division.
Maintains current knowledge, and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Is responsible for overseeing the general landscape management of park areas and leading the crew in the accomplishment of routine and cyclic work, and special projects. Demonstrates the proper use of tools and ensures the gardeners comply with safe operation. Demonstrates proper methods for pruning, irrigation repair, turf management, etc. through on the job training. Research and schedules seminars for courses in continuing education and new technology in the landscape industry. Incumbent is responsible to maintain adequate supplies, materials, and equipment for the smooth functioning of the crew. This involves ordering supplies, arranging for equipment repairs and research for new equipment when replacement is due. The issuance and use of a government purchase card and its management (statement reconciliation, purchase log, knowledge of budget, etc.). Passes on to other workers the instructions received from the supervisor by assigning daily tasks to individuals of the work group. Ensures necessary plans, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools are available when needed. Recommends operation needs per work requests to the supervisor.
