Build your career with the industry-leading fire, life safety and security company.The HCM Technical Developer will serve as Pye-Barker Fire & Safety’s hands-on technical resource for supporting and developing enterprise HCM systems. This position focuses on technical execution, troubleshooting, configuration, and system development work.This position is ideal for a strong HCM technical professional who loves hands-on technical work and problem solving. The role emphasizes technical depth, hands-on execution, and working in the weeds on complex technical problems. Success requires solid technical expertise in HCM systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn new platforms quickly.HCM System Operational Support       Serve as a technical resource for operational support of enterprise HCM system(s); handle tier-1 and tier-2 technical troubleshooting, user support, and operational issuesManage day-to-day HCM system configuration changes, user account management, security access, and system maintenance Develop and maintain HCM reports and dashboards; respond to ad-hoc reporting requests from HR leadershipTroubleshoot integration issues with other enterprise systems (payroll, benefits, BI platforms)Create and maintain internal technical documentation and knowledge baseEscalate complex issues to system vendors or implementation partners as needed; coordinate resolutionsHCM Technical Development & TroubleshootingParticipate in technical design, configuration analysis, testing, and troubleshooting for HCM system projects and enhancementsContribute technical analysis, configuration recommendations, and validation support for system development workIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve configuration and technical issues independently Support data analysis, integration development, and technical validation activitiesDevelop technical expertise in HCM system architecture, configuration, integrations, and data structuresDocument technical solutions, configurations, and lessons learnedSystem Maintenance & OptimizationMonitor HCM system health and performance; identify and resolve technical issues Support system maintenance, patches, and upgrades as needed Contribute to optimization recommendations for system efficiency and user experienceMaintain current knowledge of system capabilities and best practicesRequired QualificationsExperience & Technical Expertise:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related technical field, or equivalent professional experience4-6 years of hands-on HCM system technical experience (configuration, customization, troubleshooting, reporting)Demonstrated experience with enterprise HCM systems (Workday, Oracle HCM, SuccessFactors, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms)Experience with HCM system integrations (APIs, middleware, data architecture) Solid understanding of HR business processes, data structures, and payroll/benefits conceptsExperience troubleshooting complex technical issues and working independently to resolve problemsFoundational Capabilities:Strong technical problem-solving skills; comfort working in the weeds on complex technical problemsAbility to learn new systems quickly and operationallyAbility to manage multiple technical workstreams and changing prioritiesClear written and verbal communication; ability to document technical issues and solutionsCollaborative mindset; ability to work effectively with vendors, partners, and business stakeholdersRequired Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills; ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently; comfort debugging complex configuration problemsHands-On Execution: Prefer to work in the weeds; excited by technical work and troubleshooting; not seeking management or strategic rolesHCM Technical Depth: Solid configuration knowledge of enterprise HCM systems; understanding of data model, security, and integration architectureLearning Agility: Ability to quickly learn and work with new HCM platforms; comfortable working in technical ambiguityCommunication: Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; ability to document configurations, issues, and solutionsAttention to Detail: Configuration work and data quality are critical; ability to catch errors and maintain rigorous standardsTechnical Focus: Excited about developing deeper technical expertise in HCM systems; prefers hands-on technical work over management or strategic responsibilitiesPreferred QualificationsHCM platform experience (Workday, Oracle HCM, SuccessFactors, or others)Exposure to fire/safety or security services industry HR practicesAgile or iterative project experienceOther DutiesAdheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety PolicySome travel may be requiredPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to type and handle equipment, and communicate effectively via phone, email, and video conference.
