Job description

About the Position: Serves as the Retirement Services Officer (RSO) and Retirement Services Program Manager within the Military Personnel Division (MPD), Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) for U.S. Army Garrison - Fort McCoy (USAG-FMWI). Responsible for the effective delivery of retirement services and the associated administrative functions for retiring Soldiers, retirees, their families, and survivors across a 5-state region or area of responsibility (AOR).

Serves as the principal authority and authoritative representative of the Garrison Commander on all matters related to military retirement benefits, survivor services, and retiree support. (RSO and program manager). Develops and disseminates communication materials regularly to ensure retirees are consistently informed about benefits changes, health programs, legislative developments, and other relevant resources. Provides individual personalized in-depth counseling and assistance to eligible active Army personnel, retired Soldiers, their dependents, or survivors. Administers the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) at installation level. Involved in Retirement Services budget formulation with the Director of Human Resources or the Military Personnel Division Chief. Obtains and maintains access to the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) Retiree Address Finder (RAF), Defense Retired Annuitant Pay System (DRAS), and Retiree Casualty Pay Subsystems (RCPS)
