Job description
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Readiness Support Officer (OCRSO). The primary purpose of this position is to assist in formulating, implementing, and directing the Department's comprehensive safety and health risk management program, developing and executing Department-wide policy, setting priorities for the use of limited resources, and establishing Department-wide standards. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
As a Industrial Hygienist, GS-0690-13, your typical work assignments may include the following: Identify health hazards; provide general expert knowledge in the areas of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive agents; ventilation; indoor air quality; personal protection; air monitoring; ergonomics; and other environmental hazards and conditions. Investigate adequacy of ventilation, indoor air quality, lighting, noise, and other environmental and biological hazards that may affect employee health, comfort, or efficiency. Conduct inspections to determine compliance with established safety and industrial hygiene standards and regulations. Provides guidance and ensures appropriate consideration to occupational health matters. Conducts complex risk assessment and cost benefit analysis of alternative solutions.
