Job description

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Intelligence & Analysis (I&A). The primary purpose of this position is to develop expertise on I&A's four functional priorities-counterterrorism, cyber, nation-state, or trans-border threats and conducts substantive review of field-produced raw intelligence reports on these topics. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

As a Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS-0132-14, your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a senior advisor and primary consultant in the dissemination of multi-source intelligence and subject matter expert for human intelligence collection and operations. The incumbent applies expert knowledge of intelligence information acquisition and research, and the methodologies and applicable tradecraft used to overtly collect information of intelligence value from a variety of sources. Plans and directs management of the entire regional collection effort from identifying the information need to delivering a fused intelligence product to the consumer. The incumbent ensures collection operations are aligned with organizational priorities identified in the Operating Directive. The incumbent monitors regional intelligence-gathering activities and evaluates intelligence information to determine potential reporting opportunities. Produces, reviews and releases raw intelligence information reports that balance the needs of protecting sources and the integrity of the information, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and Departmental regulations. Establishes and maintains direct liaison activities and staff coordination channels with departmental and national intelligence organizations and the military services. The incumbent apprises consumers and partners of new developments and related background information associated with collection operations.
