Job description
The incumbent serves as IT Cybersecurity Specialist in the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer (OFCIO). The incumbent assists with implementation of strategic multi-agency cybersecurity priorities. Promotion to the next highest grade level is neither guaranteed nor implied.
As a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-14/15, your typical work assignments may include the following: Develops cybersecurity policies and programs through collaboration within OFCIO and with other OMB offices, the Office of the National Cyber Director, the National Security Council, the Department of Homeland Security, the National Security Agency, and various interagency working groups. Conducts in-depth analysis in support of budget, legislative, and regulatory policy relevant to information security. Coordinates incident response across agencies for major cybersecurity events. Provides subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: threat hunting, cloud security engineering, AI-enabled software vulnerability analysis, network engineering, software security analysis, secure software development practices, open-source software security, risk management, agentic and traditional red teaming and penetration testing, and automation of security operations. Briefs OMB leadership on cybersecurity challenges, policy, and threats. Serves as a desk officer who is responsible for direct engagement with an agency's CIO and team to conduct oversight and support implementation efforts within their overall IT portfolio.
