LEAD CIVIL ENGINEER

About the Position: Serves as the Engineering Technical Lead for assigned projects and/or programs and all sub-projects/individual contract reaches as the primary interface between Engineering Division and all other offices.

Reviews and checks contract drawings, quantity estimates, and technical provisions of the specifications for conformance. Prepares and/or oversees general designs, technical analyses, layouts and computations, as necessary, for developing various features of the project. Conducts site inspections, forms conclusions, and provides oral or written reports containing recommendations for action. Leads scientific, technical and administrative staff to enhance their abilities to conduct civil works planning (such as plan formulation, navigation, flood reduction, infrastructure or shoreline protection) while under tight schedules. Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met. Functions as Engineering Division’s primary point of contact for project specific information and design team coordination.
