Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse - Ambulatory Care

The staff Licensed Practical Nurse - Ambulatory Care will provide safe, routine care to Veterans at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center within both inpatient and outpatient units. The primary responsibility of the LPN is to provide quality care for the Veteran, while providing exceptional customer service.

Knowledge and ability to recognize the need for emergency measures when indicated, promptly seek the assistance of the RN or PROVIDER. Collects data relevant to patient's learning needs, learning preference and readiness to learn. Assists in monitoring for any evidence of abuse/neglect and demonstrates knowledge of the abuse reporting process. Implements interventions to maintain skin integrity and prevent skin breakdown. Maintains safe and therapeutic environment by providing one-on-one observation for behavioral health patients as directed by the Provider. Provides care to patients with various prosthetic devices. Perform phlebotomy procedures. Perform medication reconciliation. Bladder scan-pre and post void residuals. Demonstrated ability to serve as a member of a PACT team-let and interacts in an appropriate manner with patients, family members, professional and other supportive personnel. Demonstrates professional behavior, respect for others, collegiality, ability to accept constructive feedback. Supports interdisciplinary teamwork to resolve issues. Collaborates with co-workers in completions of workload. Demonstrates competency according to Medical Center policies on abuse/neglect and patient rights. Collects and documents preventive indexes and clinic practice guidelines. Records all significant observations and actions taken, using established oral, written and computer communications according to documentation guidelines. Recognizes and reports to supervisor breakage/malfunction or loss of equipment, safety hazards, and supply deficiencies, promptly reporting to appropriate personnel for corrective action. Demonstrates an understanding of standard infection control precautions appropriate for the assigned position and environment. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
