Job description
This vacancy announcement may be used to fill positions at various Department of the Navy Commands, including but not limited to the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.
You will execute in-house mechanical engineering design work products and services within specified milestones and quality standards. You will analyze / design extensive engineering alterations and modifications to existing facilities to meet the everchanging demands placed upon the shore establishments of the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands. You will lead multi-disciplinary in-house (IH) design teams, executing IH projects as well as overseeing design efforts accomplished via Architectural/Engineering (A/E) firms. You will coordinate the mechanical engineering design with the engineering disciplines for Design-Bid- Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) projects to ensure overall compatibility and efficiency of the site and building design. You will conduct technical management and oversight on execution of multi-disciplinary design projects whether accomplished by IH or A/E forces. You will plan / lead project design conferences/work sessions and on-site Functional Analysis Concept Development (FACD) and/or charrettes with stakeholders to determine project requirements and to develop concept designs. You will provide post construction award services (PCAS), including review and approval of contractor's submittals for conformance with the requirements of the contract drawings and specifications. You will mentor and train new and junior mechanical engineers within the organization.
