Job description

The Nurse Pool Registered Nurse demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. Assumes responsibility for coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.

The Nurse Pool - Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. Other duties include and not limited to the following: Integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-­directed in goal setting for managing complex situations for varying areas of nursing. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Manages the care of patients, while organizing and prioritizing patient care needs, and ensuring assigned tasks are completed. Demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. Demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills for all patient care areas included within Resource Pool assignments. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care that optimizes the patient's experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients. Demonstrates compassion for self and others. Makes sound decisions under pressure. Effectively handles multiple demands, anticipates, and resolves conflicts. Shares knowledge and learning opportunities that enhance current nursing practice for self and others. Models effective resource utilization through the delegation of cost-effective care delivery. Consistently communicates and treats the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran representatives, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
