Nurse (Perioperative/Ambulatory)

About the Position: This position is located at EVANS Army Community Hospital Fort Carson, CO in the Surgery/PACU/PreOP{ department. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Recognize cardiac dysrhythmias and perform competently during life-threating situations, provide holistic patient care, and administration, titration, and monitoring of potent vasoactive medications, paralytic agents, and blood/blood products. Verify operative site, surgical procedure, ensures operative medical record is properly prepared, informed consent document is present, and verify NPO status and patient allergies. Assist with management of clinical settings involving moderate sedation or anesthetic agents. Administer and monitor the use of therapeutic medications in accordance with facility policies/procedures, American society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) standards and guidelines. Initiate and carry out a variety of age-specific nursing assessments in preparation for surgery. Communicate and consult with physicians and other healthcare personnel, make changes in the plan for nursing care, and resolve conflicts that arise. Teach patients and significant others regarding surgical procedures and routines expected during the perioperative period. Assign staff to patient and patient care duties based on patient’s condition and experience of staff member.
