Park Manager (Superintendent)

The incumbent serves as the Superintendent of Little River Canyon National Preserve and Russell Cave National Monument, duty-stationed in Fort Payne, Alabama. This position is also open to status candidates under announcement SE-1629-LIRI-26-13004106-MP. The incumbent serves as the Superintendent of Little River Canyon National Preserve (LIRI) and Russell Cave National Monument (RUCA) with the responsibility for the preservation, interpretation, maintenance, administration, and development of the monuments, and the safety and well-being of staff, volunteers, and visitors. Provides direction, management, supervision, and evaluation of the monuments' programs ensuring effectiveness and cost efficiency. Provides leadership in the development of policies, standards and procedures which govern the professional conduct of work related to the administration and implementation of the programs, including the functional areas of public use management, resource stewardship, education and interpretation, fiscal and human resources management, maintenance, visitor services, visitor and resource protection, safety management, partnerships, public affairs, budget planning and execution, and development. Physical Demands: Occasionally incumbent is required to work under unusual and stressful situations which call for physical stamina and emotional stability. The work is sedentary, but does requires walking, driving, standing, and bending. Travel to other areas is required occasionally. A valid driver's license is required. Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office setting. However, work is also performed out-of-doors in various types of weather and terrain.
