Job description

James A Haley VA medical center has a vacancy within our nursing PICC team. This position is under our Nursing Operations department, reporting directly to Nursing Operations nurse manager.

Duties listed but not limited to: Has advanced knowledge and skills in assessing, inserting, caring for, and managing vascular access devices, including peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), midlines, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), including ports. They have the advanced knowledge to maintain Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD). Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. This nurse has experience and knowledge with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, skillfully integrating theoretical concepts, strong critical thinking skills.
