Resource Management and Science Division Manager

You will serve as a Resource Management and Science Division Manager with National Park Service.The purpose of this position is to engage in the study, inventory, monitoring, restoration, and management of a broad range of natural and cultural resources. Develops and prepares major portions of the resources management plan primarily dealing with biotic resources. Prepares specific action plans pertaining to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Represents the superintendent when working with others on natural and cultural resources matters. Develops and maintains liaisons and effective working relations with related groups and individuals, agencies, and the public in order to encourage and facilitate cooperative regional management strategies. Attends management and professional conferences and other events for the purpose of exchanging information, presenting technical and policy information, and advancing advocacy for park stewardship. Responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of subordinate professional and technician positions to carry out the mission of the organization. Determines acceptability, rejection, or correction of contractor work. Initiates actions and serves as a liaison for compliance regarding environmental/cultural issues relating to project proposals and park operations. Participates in implementation of programs to address pollution prevention, conservation, and sustainable operations. Ensures that work on cultural and natural resources is in adherence with approved National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents. Based on results of inventories, in-depth studies, and monitoring, the incumbent develops and conducts scientifically credible protection, mitigation, and restoration projects to prevent resource damage; to restore and/or maintain the integrity of critical habitats, native plant and animal communities, managed landscapes, and physical resources; and to minimize human activities that impact resources. Carries out program management duties by developing work plans and schedules, scopes of work, cost estimates, and proposals and/or grants to justify funding requests and accomplish goals. Administers and tracks project funds and prepares accomplishment reports, as needed. Maintains awareness of applicable funding sources within NPS and outside. Represents Cabrillo National Monument on NPS regional task groups or similar organizations. Makes presentations in parks, public gatherings, and professional meetings
