Job description

You will serve as a SAFETY ENGINEER in the INFRASTRUCTURE DIVISION, SAFETY BRANCH of NSWC PHILA DIV.

You will serve as a safety engineering expert to evaluate and resolve complex operational hazards. You will solve novel safety engineering problems, modify existing techniques, and design new approaches. You will apply mechanical, structural, and industrial engineering principles on various hull and deck machinery and shipboard systems. You will interpret policies, adapt safety guidelines, and establish new technical criteria where gaps exist. You will review proposed designs for adequacy of safety-related controls for all existing and/or planned facilities, test sites, shipboard systems, and equipment. You will apply safety measures to resolve hazardous conditions, unsafe work practices, and violations of standards to minimize the degree of risk to personnel and property.
