Join Xylem as a Shop Technician I and become part of a global team dedicated to solving the world's most challenging water issues.In this role, you'll evaluate, troubleshoot, repair, and test industry-leading Flygt submersible wastewater pumps that help move and manage water in communities across North America. Whether your experience comes from diesel mechanics, HVAC, industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, electrical troubleshooting, or another mechanical trade, we'll provide product-specific training to help you succeed.🛠 What You'll Be DoingDiagnose, evaluate, repair, and test submersible wastewater pumps and related equipmentPerform mechanical tear-downs, inspections, rebuilds, and repairsTroubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issuesCreate repair recommendations and document findings within Xylem's work order systemOperate shop equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, hydraulic presses, and power toolsMaintain accurate service records and repair documentationFollow all safety procedures and PPE requirementsMaintain a clean, organized, and efficient work areaWork independently on assigned repairs while collaborating with team members as neededProvide occasional customer interaction when discussing equipment repairs and recommendations🎯 What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED1+ year of mechanical, maintenance, repair, or technical experienceExperience using hand tools and power toolsStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityAbility to read and understand technical informationBasic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office or smart devicesAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to work safely in an industrial shop environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with pumps, motors, rotating equipment, or industrial machineryDiesel mechanic, HVAC, electrical, maintenance, or heavy equipment backgroundExperience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or hydraulic pressesExperience working in manufacturing, industrial, repair, or service environmentsDemonstrated job stability and strong work ethic💪 The Kind of Candidate Who Thrives HereEnjoys hands-on mechanical workNaturally curious and enjoys troubleshooting equipment problemsTakes pride in quality repairs and craftsmanshipValues safety and accountabilityWorks well independently and as part of a teamDemonstrates a strong willingness to learn new technical skillsMaintains a positive, customer-focused mindset💰 Compensation & Benefits$24 - $26 per hour (based on experience)4 Weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) for hourly employeesMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with Company ContributionEmployee Assistance ProgramsCareer Development and Technical TrainingJoin the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
