Job description

This position serves as the Budget Officer for a major component of the Forest Service, such as a region, research station or headquarters office. The incumbent has primary responsibility for programming, budgeting, controlling, and administering the use of appropriated, trust, deposit and revolving funds in accordance with regulations and directives. Serves as the Budget Officer for a major component of the Forest Service, such as a region, with delegated authority and responsibility for the total budgetary operations. Analyzes program and budget guidance and instructions from national headquarters to determine impact on the organization. Receives and distributes funds issued to the line officer, to include allotment and subsequent changes to appropriated funds, annual spending authority of trust funds, and deposit accounts. Monitors and edits data entered in the work planning system on a regular basis to verify information entered is current, accurate and up to date. Serves as an expert, analyzing and resolving complex issues related to the financial program aspects of a significant organizational segment, such as a regional office. Performs supervisory duties 25% or more of the time.
