Supervisory CBP Officer (Assistant Port Director)

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), at various ports of entry to include land border ports, airports, and seaports within the United States, its territories, and possessions. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Assistant Port Director with responsibility for operations conducted in multiple locations in one or multiple environments (air, land, and/or sea) at a medium-sized port of entry. Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $131,901.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to$171,476.00 (GS-14, Step 10) Duties include: Directing and managing operations, assess mission requirements, and advocate for resources and equipment required to accomplish the OFO mission. Directing proactive enforcement activity in support of the OFO mission including anti-terrorism, anti-smuggling, outbound, and others to accomplish the OFO mission. Managing highly skilled and trained personnel that serve as first responders. Implementing procedures and trains personnel on effective response protocols for hazardous incidents and other threats. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions: Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military A dependent who was authorized to accompany a federal civilian or member of the military who was working for the U.S. government Participation in a study abroad program sponsored by a U.S. affiliated college or university Working as a contractor, intern, consultant or volunteer supporting the U.S. government
