This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to$142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10) In this second-line supervisory position you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals enforcing applicable laws and facilitating the orderly and efficient flow of international trade and travel. Typical work assignments include: Supervising, planning, directing, coordinating, assigning and evaluating all work activities regarding the full range of inspection, intelligence analysis, examination, and law enforcement activities relating to the arrival and departure of persons, conveyances, and merchandise at Ports of Entry. Interpreting the laws and regulations of a broad range of Federal, State, and local agencies relating to the admissibility of people, cargo, and conveyances. Directing, coordinating and overseeing the work through subordinate supervisors (or team leaders). Making decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors, evaluating subordinate supervisors, reviewing and approving serious disciplinary actions involving non-supervisory subordinates, and make or approve subordinate non-supervisory selections. Developing and maintaining relationships with cooperating government agencies, port authorities, foreign entities, and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts, share information, and provide guidance on laws and regulations enforced by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions: Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military A dependent who was authorized to accompany a federal civilian or member of the military who was working for the U.S. government Participation in a study abroad program sponsored by a U.S. affiliated college or university Working as a contractor, intern, consultant or volunteer supporting the U.S. government
