Job description

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Intelligence & Analysis (I&A). The primary purpose of this position to manage information systems and technologies required to develop, build, manage and coordinate the data infrastructure required to support National Vetting Center activities using all relevant and appropriate Federal government (including both intelligence and law enforcement) information. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (National Vetting Center Technical Director), GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include: Provides policy guidance for National Vetting Center managers and officials, identifying and addressing IT capabilities issues through the rigorous application of information assurance policies, principles, and practices to ensure proper alignment and consistency of Department-wide and IC mission requirements. Plans, organizes, and controls overall activities to develop and operate the data infrastructure in support of the National Vetting Center. Responsible for the lifecycle development plan; serves as the single point of program interface for other related or supporting projects; and directs and provides expertise for all phases of the program from inception through completion. Provides technical oversight and provides strategic technical guidance. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities over engineers and program managers. Often serves as the National Vetting Center IT expert and principal l&A representative on technical matters with other DHS agencies and, as required, other Intelligence Community agencies. Prepares and presents briefings holds discussions, and in coordination with other experts, makes commitments relative to mission matters to higher level officials. Presents I&A programs and accomplishments to higher level I&A and DHS officials on a periodic basis. Serves as a member, chair, or advisor to I&A committees and activities.
