Job description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations in the following locations: Aguadilla, PR San Angelo, TX Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

This position is ideal for a seasoned Marine Interdiction Agent looking for an opportunity to direct a workforce of marine law enforcement professionals, participating with highest-level officials in administering, managing, and planning the agency's marine program, where the work requires the application of marine and law enforcement knowledge and skills. This position starts at a salary of $152,040.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10). Typical duties may include: Participating with the Director of Air and Marine Operations (DAMO) and appropriate CBP Headquarters leadership in the formulation and implementation of CBP's National Marine Program policies and activities, conferring with the DAMO and CBP Headquarters leadership on a continuing basis and during regular and special conferences to discuss significant marine and law enforcement operations and important new developments in the marine law enforcement community and formulate plans, policies, and courses of action. Exercising broad management supervision, direction, and oversight of CBP's National Marine Program maritime operations at branches and units, making major decisions on projects, policy, changes in program emphasis, and diversion of resources. Conducting long range planning to meet future objectives and determining the need for coordination of necessary organizational changes. Increasing efficiency and effectiveness of employees and equipment involved in marine law enforcement operations and mentoring and guiding the professional development of employees while determining priorities and projects for completion and ensuring efficient execution and coordination of operations and training with law enforcement partners. Represents AMO in meetings with officials from other CBP components; DHS; and other federal, state, local, and tribal agencies to plan and coordinate joint enforcement efforts with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and foreign enforcement officials.
